Financial Planning for Employment

If you are seeking employment in NH and are eligible for or are receiving Social Security benefits and/or other government benefits, GSIL's Financial Planning for Employment services are here to help guide you on the path to increasing your income. We will use the tools, resources & government benefits available to you and your specific situation to create the best employment outcome and living situation possible.

Understanding the impact of income on your benefits can help you make informed choices on employment. GSIL's Community Work Incentives Coordinators(CWIC's) in the Financial Planning for Employment program work one-on-one with individuals to outline available options. Our CWIC' also make group presentations to professionals and individuals that are Social Security beneficiaries.

Being Employed and Maintaining Benefits

If you receive Social Security benefits, working will not immediately eliminate these benefits, housing subsides or medical coverage. Our staff can provide information on work incentives and health care options, including MEAD (Medicaid) and keeping Medicare benefits while working. We also can help you develop a clearly defined path to achieve your employment goals while maintaining your benefits.

To be Eligible for Financial Planning for Employment Services:

  • Be age 16 to full retirement age, to be working, ready to work or considering working and,

  • Receive federal benefits, such as Social Security (SSDI or SSI) and/or,

  • Receive state benefits, such as Medicaid, MEAD, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and housing subsidies.
